Yodfat National Park

Yodfat is the site of the famous battle in the Great Revolt (66-70 CE), in which the town's Jewish general, who became the famous historian Josephus, was captured after he opted out of a suicide pact. At this off-the-beaten track site, you'll see caves and cisterns (careful, not all are marked!) and part of the ancient city wall that played a part in the fateful story Josephus tells. The site reveals beautiful vistas of oak, carob and olive groves and Jewish National Fund pine forests.
