The Cardo, running beneath todays Jewish Quarter in Old Jerusalem, was the city's main street 1,400 years ago, and is now one of its most popular attractions.
A sixth-century colonnade leads into the covered street, where some of the best shopping in Jerusalem beckons from shops ensconced in medieval vaults, and you can peer through literal windows into the past to Jerusalem's First Temple period walls.
