Archaeology and History
The village of Ein Karem, with its picturesque lanes, churches, galleries, craft shops and restaurants is nestled in the terraced hills southwest of Jerusalem, just minutes from downtown.
Its most famous churches, the Church of John the Baptist and the Church of the Visitation, are highlights for Christian visitors, who revere the village as the birthplace of John the Baptist. Mary's well, the ancient village spring, has recently been renovated.
