The route begins at the entrance to Be'er Evrona from Highway 90 (Arava Road). Ride east to Be'er Evrona. Continue riding south to the Edom palms. Continue riding south towards the evaporation ponds where you can watch migratory birds and flamingos. Turn west between the date groves until you meet the old Arava road and return to the starting point.
The route passes through the following sites:
The Edom Palm Trees - a group of rare and impressive "Doum" palm trees. The area of Malhat Evrona is the most northerly point in the world where this palm tree grows, which is common in Sudan and the tropical regions of Africa.
The Evaporation Pools - the northern pools of Eilat that are used to evaporate their waters to extract Red Sea salt. The pools attract many migratory birds during the migration seasons. About one million birds pass through this region to "refuel" during their migration from one continent to another, in spring to Europe for nesting and in autumn to the hot African continent.
Flamingo - a relatively large bird that stands out in its pink shades. The flamingos can be seen in the evaporation pools, and have made it their home where they find all their needs. The flamingos are nourished by "sea monkeys" - Artemia salina (brine shrimp), which causes the "coloring" of their wings in pink and red.
