Cycling
An easy pedal will take you on a trail through one of the richest areas for flora and fauna in Israel: around the wetlands site and part of the old Hula swamps, which is an important stopping point for tons of migratory birds and other wildlife, to the emerging aqueduct, located on the main migratory route of the birds in our country. You can see many species of birds – migratory and native.
The trail is the same for all whom arrive:
7km after Yesud Hama'ala Junction turn right (east). Follow the sign pointing to the Hula Valley. After about a kilometer you arrive at a large parking lot, where you park your car.
At the visitor center you can rent different kinds of bikes, electric vehicles or join with one of the guided tours.
You can bring your own bike on weekdays (on weekends and holidays you cannot enter with private bikes), or hike on foot. Along the route are manned birdwatchers, a botanical garden for water plants and orchards with picnic areas.
0.00 [1] straight (east): Cross the western channel and continue straight following the signs to the Hula Valley.
1.00 (1.00) straight (east): cross the Jordan riverbed that crosses through the heart of the Hula and today it serves as a waterway for the new wetlands. At this section it is recommended you leave the trail and take the one that is next to the shoreline.
2.90 (1.90) right (east): cross a water canal and ride back on the main road leading east.
4.50 (1.60) right (south): here the eastern channel passes most of the waters of the Jordan River to the Sea of Galilee. Travel along the Jordan River following the signs to the Agamon Hula
5.00 (0.50) [2] right (west): leave the Jordan River channel and ride next to the Agamon Hula.
6.30 (1.30) left (south): at this fork in the trail it is recommended that you choose the longer trail. Those that are tired can continue this point by going straight (west) next to the marked pasture for cranes for 2km and then turn right (north) to the starting point. If you have chosen the longer trail, it goes passed a long short growth of Oleander plants.
8.50 (2.20) [3] right (west): a fork in the trail. Throughout this length of trail, on your left is the Hula Nature Reserve. There are tons of birds and other wildlife in and around the dense vegetation. It is recommended you stop at the lookouts to see the landscape of the reserve.
11.30 (2.80) right (north): the trail curves and leaves the reserve on its way to the starting point.
13.50 (2.20) [1]: finish back at starting point. The trail is wide and maintained, which makes it an enjoyable experience for the whole family.
Entrance to the Agamon with private bikes is only allowed during weekdays and not on weekends or holidays. During these times bikes can be rented therein.
