Cycling
The trail is also intended for families pedaling in the heart of the Ramon Crater. The relatively short route leads to the most beautiful corners of the crater: a natural water spring, through patches of wild herbs and spices, limestone cliffs, a mountain of sand and colorful areas. The beginning of the trail starts in the parking lot where you can fill water and leave your vehicle. From there you pedal along the oil pipeline and on the way down to Ein Saharonim and the Saharonim Stronghold. Later on, ride along the stretch of the Spice Route to the Ardon Stream and the colorful slopes of Mount Ardon. A short incline leads you to the Saharonim parking lot and from there you ride on a comfortable road back to the Be'erot parking lot. Please note that the trail is not recommended during the afternoon in the summer months.
How to Get There:Drive down from Mitzpe Ramon on Highway 40. Turn left (northeast) following the signage to Ein Saharonim and Be'erot. Drive 5 km on the dirt road marked in red, you will reach a marked trail, turn left (north) with the black signs with the signs for the Be'erot parking lot.
[1] 0.00 return (south): ride on the trail marked with black in which you came – the trail along the oil pipeline from Eilat to Ashkelon. This road was created in the 1960s, with the laying of the oil pipeline between Eilat and Ashkelon, during the time that Iran was Israel's main oil supplier. The oil arrives in the tankers to the port of Eilat and from there flows through the pipeline to Ashkelon.
