Wineries
The Villa Wilhelma Winery is a special and unusual combination of place, people, history and culture.
Wilhelma - Hamidiyah -that is how the German Templars called their fifth settlement in the Land of Israel, in the names of the German Emperor and Abdul-Hamid- the Sultan of Turkey, who helped establish the colony.
It was during the Kaiser's visit to Israel in 1898 in which he visited Binyamin Ze'ev Herzl and met with the Emperor to help advance his vision - A state for the Jews.
In Wilhelma, the settlers grew vineyards and produced the wine in a shared winery (the Kirya) in Tel Aviv called Sarona Wilhelma.
