Ride on the road leading from the Elifaz junction towards Timna Park. You start riding on the "oil road," heading west, we recommend visiting the open mine. Ride west toward Nahal Minagen north of the Great Dune. Here is a mountain of mines. Heading south - meet the Israel National Trail, crossing the Sasgon Valley, crossing Nahal Timna and riding towards the entrance gate of Timna Park.
The route passes through the sites:
The Open Mine - An open mine used to mine copper ore by miners that operated in the area until 1984. Mining in Timna was carried out in open mines such as this and underground mining tunnels. The material that was mined was transported in large trucks to the factory area, about 3 km south of the open mine, where the chemical process was continued.
The Sasgon Dune - on the slope of the hill north of Nahal Miganen, is a large and steep dune. The source of the sand is the erosion of layers of sandstone from which the hill is built. The dune is called the "Rambo Dune" by the residents of the region following the shooting of the film "Rambo 3" therein.
