Archaeology and History
Arbel National Park encompasses the remains of an opulent synagogue with massive Corinthian capitals and a loop trail to the Carob Tree lookout over the Sea of Galilee. On the ancient Roman road, Christian visitors can picture Jesus stopping on the way to the Sea of Galilee.
The adventurous will find a variety of extensive hikes. One takes you down the steep promontory to the Cave Fortress, where Jewish rebels against Herod hid out, and dramatic 18th century fortifications can still be seen.
