Church Of St. Gabriel

In the grotto of the Church of St. Gabriel in Nazareth, at Mary's Well, the rushing water and the cool stone walls impart a sense of the village where Jesus grew up. Who knows when women first started coming to this well, its edges grooved by countless ropes? An ancient tradition says it is here where Mary would have come to draw water every day that the angel Gabriel told Mary she would give birth to Jesus. This church, its walls colorfully painted with Gospel scenes, still serves Christians of this city.
